Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake Announced Alongside Collection Featuring First Three Games

Konami is formally rebuilding Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater for the PlayStation 5 (update: It has now been confirmed for Xbox and PC). This comes close to 20 years after its initial release.

The new Metal Gear Solid 3 remake, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater, was announced during today’s PlayStation Showcase and appears to be a faithful remake of Hideo Kojima’s original game.

(The Greek letter is pronounced “Delta”). A brief CGI teaser video that included Cynthia Harrell singing the iconic theme tune and the camera panning across a familiar jungle scene before resting on Snake disclosed the information.

The original voices from the original films will be used in the remake, with David Hayter as Snake, according to later information that was made public. Other promises from Konami included “unprecedented graphics and immersive sound.”

Along with the remake, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 was released.

Konami also revealed the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 and Metal Gear Solid. The original three games, as well as Metal Gear Solid, will be included in the compilation. The platforms and release date are yet to be determined.

After a protracted absence, the expanded series will make a triumphant comeback to modern systems with Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection. The first Snake Eater game was released in North America in 2004 and later remastered, but Kojima’s highly publicised split from Konami caused the series to go on a protracted hiatus. Metal Gear Solid Survive, its most recent significant release, debuted to average reviews in 2018.

In the first Snake Eater, a spy with the codename Naked Snake seeks his instructor, who appears to have deserted to the Soviet Union during the Cold War. It received plaudits for its plot, gameplay, and distinctive boss fights, many of which are still well-known today. Although the remake has long been rumoured to be in the works, this is the first time it has been publicly displayed. Bluepoint and Virtuous Studios are among those thought to be overseeing development.

Kojima, who helped bring Metal Gear Solid to life with his illustrations, has long ago gone on to his projects and brought renowned illustrator Yoji Shinkawa. The original production team did issue an unsigned comment through the press release. However, how much of the crew is engaged with the remake is still being determined.
